Another work that influenced Imaginary Daughter, by another author that’s influenced me. Yotsuba and! is a charming and hilarious manga by Kiyohiko Azuma, of Azumanga Daioh fame, featuring a very young and rather clueless daughter, full of energy and innocence, and her relationship with her father (a single guy), his friends and neighbors, as she discovers what this world is like.

Edwin Shy is at it again, and this time he sent me his incredibly cute interpretation of what Father’s wife might have been like. Not only does she look great, she certainly fits my mental image of her. I imagine her to have been much more assertive and full of spirit than Father. Her expressions are great, specially her “love” one. Thanks, Edwin!

Been waiting almost fifty strips to draw this. Daughter could have gotten rid of that backpack right away, save for the fateful flip of a coin, and the story would have been altered somewhat. Funny how these things work.

Today’s bonus is at the same time too early for St. Valentine’s and too late for the site’s supposed schedule. On the other hand, the image hides a neat little secret about ID. It’s nothing particularly important though, so don’t fret if you can’t discover it, because you sure as hell ain’t getting any help with this

A large egg. A large broken egg. A barefoot little blonde girl. A tall blonde man who has forgotten his past and carries a weight. A desolate city. Chasing shadows. Lengthy falls. More allegories than you can shake a large stick at.
