Daughter as Jade from Beyond Good &an Evil. Best female character to ever grace a videogame? Perhaps!

Nothing brought me more joy in 2008 than hearing that a sequel was on the works for this game, and hardly anything was more disappointing last year than hearing it got put on hold. I fell in love with this game’s world and its characters, for whose company I pine to this  day.

Just as Super Metroid drags you in by throwing you into a desolate alien landscape that oppresses you and dares you to conquer it, in Beyond Good & Evil you are cast to a world that feels alive and breathing, and that you quickly learn to cherish as you go along discovering its secrets and interacting with its fascinating populace. What BG&E does so well is to make you want to save the world you are tasked with saving, and care about the characters in it. It doesn’t hurt that the game is absolutely gorgeous, the soundtrack is fantastic (and freely downloadable here! GET IT NOW!), and the gameplay is fun and wonderfully diverse from beginning to end, including as it does world exploration, team fights, puzzle-solving, stealth, hovercraft racing, space combat, sci-fi air-hockey and lots and lots of photography-taking (that’s what the camera is for, duh!)

All I’m saying is you need to play this game.
