Piggyback

Father really owed her at least this much, I think.

All that’s left for me to do is to thank you all for accompanying Father, Daughter and me through this journey, which I hope you’ve enjoyed as much as I did.

There are more stories to tell, even as we leave Father behind to deal with his life and his Imaginary Daughter, and so I invite you to continue being a part of this.

Thank you for reading this far.

Aw, shucks, that turned out far more emotional and serious than I had intended. Let’s finish this in a trippy way, shall we?

    Thankyou for writing! :D

Ever since Father said that he’d give Daughter a piggy-back ride on the way back I knew it wouldn’t happen and so was upset…. So this has made my day :) I am now happy.

This is now my favourite page of this comic :)

Also, I do like that photo.

I actually feel a bit teary.

That is the best last page you possibly could have done. It’s perfect.

It’s been a brilliant portrayal of an emotional roller-coaster, and I thank you for it.

    Thank you.

I don’t really have much to add. Because this was the perfect ending of a wonderful story and I really enjoyed reading it. I miss Daughter and Father already, but couldn’t think of a better finale myself :D It IS perfect.
So, once again: THANK YOU. For giving me the pleasure of reading and living with the characters.

  4. Liëka says:

Oh, quick question if you don’t mind: What materials did you use to colour this? Is it watercolour pencils? (That’s what it looks like to my untrained eye…)

This was a lovely story, I didn’t expect a better ending for it. It’s perfect!
I’ll be wainting for seeing your new works, because you certainly have improve in the way from the first page ;)

Great story, been a pleasure reading it. Part of me wishes it kept going, the other part knows it ended as it should.

The comic made me smile, the bonus picture made me laugh. :D

Oh no… there go the tears. I’m such a sap Dx. Great ending!

    I like that piggyback ride. . .

Hang on a minute, must get a handkerchief.

My condolences to the father; my oldest daughter also died.

Dear magpie49, thank you so much for reading ID.

This story tries to convey the devastation that something like this can cause in an individual; and how it’s necessary to embrace the memories of our loved ones and face our grief head-on in order to pull through.

I’m really sorry for your terrible loss, but I trust that you too will be able to carry on enjoying this life; we can do so, both for the sake of the ones that have already departed, and for our own.

Hope to see you for the next comic! :)

      • magpie49 says:

Yes. The event, and the grief, is devastating. Yes. The only way out is to go through, to embrace the grief, to feel the feelings, let time dull the pain. The path isn’t an easy one; it’s slow going, with stops and reverses along the way.

Some days I laugh and sing and have fun. Other days are pensive and weepy and grey, without regard for blue skies or sunshine. As time goes on I find more days are the better sort. I will never forget, but I am working on finding a new “normal.”

        You convey it well.

Thank you so much for creating and sharing this with us. During its span, it was one of my favorites, and such an enjoyable read. I’m glad to have had the chance to read it.

Best of luck on your future comics and out there in the real world, too. Maybe I’ll drop in and check out your next project when it gets rolling.

    ‘Till then…

As sad as I am to see this comic end, I am still looking forward to you anouncing the puplication of a book (ideally one that my local comic book store can order). This comic is actually one of the few online comics that I have been reading on a regular basis for some time now and it will be missed. I know this would sound wierd but I would love to be able to hold it in my hands in the real world and read it at my leasure…

  11. jpnuar1 says:

Wow, that was a great comic. Thanks for writing it!
Sadly, I won’t be able to buy the book in the foreseeable near future. So thanks for letting us poor folks read it free online! :)

I like the second picture. That does look weird. I’m assuming the colors at the lower right-hand corner are the pallet for this page.
The sight of Father giving Daughter a piggyback ride is wonderful. They both look so joyful. :D

  13. justme says:

    *sniff*… great. now i’m crying….
not sure if you’re still reading posts for this, but WOW. just WOW. i started reading ID a few days ago, and my first impression was that it was a cute sort of whimsical adventure. Then i noticed that despite the whimsy, there was this creeping sense of dread right under the surface, like there was something else going on, or about to happen. that, and the fact that daughter speaks like a grown-up and an 8-yr-old at the same time. i couldn’t figure it all out until just before we got to the elevator panels, and i realized where this might be heading (was still surprised by the twist, though).
amazing story, i look forward to reading more.

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it, and also that you picked up on the hidden clues ;) Right now I’m working on other projects which I hope to make available online soon; hopefully you’ll like them as well. See you around, then!
